Speaking

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of joining radio programs, podcasts and TV shows to discuss my reporting. I’ve also spoken on journalism and video game industry panels (including at SXSW), moderated conversations and talked to students at both high schools and Ivy League universities about topics ranging from the basics of reporting to data analysis and covering diverse communities.

I’ve also participated in talks about managing the vicarious trauma of reporting on natural disasters and shootings.

Contact me if you’d like me to participate in your panel, speak on your show or talk to your class. I’m available to discuss topics including but not limited to:

  • Journalism as an industry
  • Video game industry journalism
  • The role of the video game industry in the business and culture of California
  • Narrative storytelling
  • Writing and editing
  • Breaking news reporting
  • Covering diverse communities
  • News literacy
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Building trust in communities
